Mission Statement

The Neuropsychology, Dementia, and Multicultural Research Lab is committed to advancing scientific understanding of cognitive aging, dementia, and cultural factors that shape neuropsychological performance. Our work bridges clinical and cultural neuropsychology by examining how cognition relates to real-world functioning across diverse populations. We aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, enhance cultural fairness in cognitive assessment, and strengthen the prediction of daily functional abilities among individuals with mild cognitive impairment and dementia. Current projects include research on functional prediction in cognitive impairment, studies on cultural and linguistic influences on neuropsychological testing, validation of cross-cultural acculturation measures, and a meta-analysis investigating activities of daily living performance in MCI populations across U.S. studies. Through this work, our lab seeks to promote equitable, evidence-based approaches to neuropsychological assessment and care in multicultural contexts.
